Today, Matt Lee, Bethanie Herman and I taught our first FAST theatre classes of the summer! FAST, or Fun Academics in the Summertime, is a Maryland Frederick County Public Schools program funded by three 21st Century Learning Community Center grants. Kids participate in a variety of classes for five weeks as a part of a county-wide effort to fend off “summer brain drain.”
I’m proud to be working with the Maryland Ensemble Theatre. Lee, Herman & I have created a Devised Theatre and Improv Theatre curriculum for middle and elementary school FAST groups. All classes will culminate in a student showcase. I’m excited to watch the students learn and grow over the next five weeks.
